Hi everyone! I’m sorry it has been so long since I have blogged. I’ve been very busy with a side project, my new online wedding magazine IZZY (www.izzymag.com). IZZY has fashion, cakes, flowers, real weddings, and so much more! One of the biggest tasks was planning and photographing all of the fashion features. You can see some of the images on my web site (www.melissabagley.com) in the portfolio section under Bridal Fashion. I’ve absolutely loved working on this project! I can’t wait to start on the next issue!

Edith Meyer & IZZY

Today I photographed Edith Meyer’s (www.edithmeyer.com) super fun 100% organic table centerpiece cakes for IZZY (www.izzymag.com). Each table had a cake with a different design. And, each cake was placed on an antique cake stand. Yum!

IZZY Fashion Shoot

Last Sunday was the very first IZZY fashion shoot. It was an incredible success! We had the finest gowns, jewelry, and accessories. It was a long day – 4 models and 11 different wedding gowns. But, it was worth every moment. The images are beautiful and I can’t wait to share them with everyone! Until then, here are a few “behind the scenes” photographs.

Hey Lady Shoes

Yesterday I met with Jessica of Hey Lady (www.shopheylady.com). Jessica and her sister make the some of the cutest shoes! They call themselves “the anti-dyeable actually-danceable wedding shoe” company. I’ve fallen in love with their shoes! Jessica kindly put up with my gushing and in November I will be working with them on a story about their shoes for IZZY. If you can’t wait for January (when IZZY is launched) to see their shoes, go to their web site and check out their shoes for yourself!

IZZY Magazine

By now many of you know that I am starting an online wedding magazine called IZZY. Many people have asked me what makes IZZY different from all the other wedding magazines.

This a valid question and one I have been getting quite a bit. So, I thought I would post the reasons IZZY is so unique.

1) IZZY is only an online magazine. The reader may download a copy of the magazine if they wish.

2) IZZY is much more than just a magazine. IZZY is all about multimedia. We will be making use of You-tube, Facebook, Twitter, and our own blog/website to provide additional content between issues and before the release of the premiere issue.

3) IZZY will have it’s own You-tube IZZY branded channel that will feature interviews with vendors and additional content.

4) The editor of IZZY will taking time to interact personally with Facebook fans and those following IZZY on twitter.

5) IZZY is all about providing relevant information for the bride. By doing this the bride will return to IZZY’s different web portals for new information on a regular basis.

6) IZZY will be publishing on regular and consistent basis new information on twitter, Facebook, You-tube, and the IZZY brand website/blog.

7) IZZY will be doing the “legwork” for vendors by keeping up with these new medias. Many vendors do not have the time to consistently maintain all of these online outlets. IZZY will act as a portal for vendors, channeling potential clients to them through these different new medias.

8) IZZY’s main focus is on becoming “the” source of information for brides planning their wedding.

9) IZZY will be featuring only quality vendors; Vendors that truly care about what they do and produce a quality product.

10) IZZY will only have full-page ads. By doing this, the magazine will maintain it’s high quality image.

11) IZZY is not an ad book. The main focus is on content for the bride. IZZY will refuse large blocks of ads.

Update on IZZY

I’ve been working hard on both my photography business and my new online magazine, IZZY. There has been an incredible amount of support for the new magazine from both the wedding world but others outside the industry. A huge thank you to everyone that is supporting this project!

So far mock ups of the cover and several pages are done, along with many other things. Below you will see a sneak preview of the layout of the cover and another page. Right now the images and text are simply holders for text and images to come.

I am still looking for vendors that would like to participate in shoots for the magazine. If you or someone you know would be interested, please contact me.

Also, I am adding a “Resource Guide” to the back of the magazine. If you are a wedding vendor and would like to be listed in your region, please contact me. A six month listing is $200. Only five vendors will be allowed per category per region.

I can’t believe I am announcing this (very deep breath). I am launching an online wedding magazine called IZZY (www.izzymag.com – coming soon). After years of looking at wedding magazines, I have come to the conclusion that 99% of them look alike. And, most of them should just be called ad books because there are so many gown ads in them!

Brides deserve better than this!

I am in the process of laying out the framework for the magazine and would love to hear from past and current brides, other vendors, and the magazine loving public. What would you like to see in a wedding magazine? What would help you plan your wedding? What are you tired of seeing?

Fellow wedding vendors – I’d love to hear about the trends you are seeing and/or the latest wonderful product/service you are offering! I will have a section that features the latest trends and beautiful wedding products.

So….please let me know what you think. My goal is to launch the first issue early 2010.
